Back in 2014, I received my CELTA certification from International House in Madrid, Spain. A few years later, I completed a Master's is TEFL from the State University of New York at City College while working as an English as a Foreign Language teacher in Brooklyn.
Way back in the 1990s, I earned a PhD in Psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
Before moving to New York, I grew up in the Phoenix, Arizona area where I eventually earned a BA in Psychology from Northern Arizona University.
I have worked in education since 1993, first as a psychology tutor and lecturer. But once I moved to Medellin, Colombia in 2000, I have worked almost exclusively in teaching English as a Foreign, Second or Other Language as an administrator, curriculum developer, teacher trainer and teacher. I have worked with all levels and all age groups in both classroom and virtual settings in different parts of the world.
My Interests
I am very interested in all things related to culture, especially music, food, politics, societal trends, current events, human rights (that is, ethnic and racial groups, women, LGBTQIA+communities, religions and all other minority groups.). I am fascinated by traveling and though I have visited and even lived in a few, I have never been to an Asian country, unless you count Turkiye. I am obsessed with music and write about it extensively.
